A collaboration with illustrator Christian Arnder.
I saw this illustration from Christian Arnder on my twitter feed and thought it would make a great animation. I contacted him to see if he was open to me tinkering with his piece and he was game.
From the original illustration as a template I rebuilt the two characters in Animate. The guy is tweened except for his pant legs, which are animated with the bone tool to keep the single, curved tube unbroken as he walks. The thought guy is a puppet built out of animated symbols to get the slight undulating effect.
It was animated at 24 fps and then posterized at 12 fps to get a more cartoony vibe in After Effects.
